Psychiatric Evaluation and Treatment Planning
Dr. Rinker conducts comprehensive psychiatric evaluations to establish a thorough understanding of each patient's needs and treatment goals. These evaluations include a diagnostic assessment and may involve reviewing previous medical and psychiatric records, as well as consulting with patients' medical providers, therapists, and families when indicated. She may also order blood work or recommend further medical or psychological testing. Treatment recommendations encompass a range of options, such as medications, vitamins and supplements, psychotherapy, biological therapies, and lifestyle interventions.
Medication Management
When appropriate, Dr. Rinker prescribes and manages psychiatric medications. She chooses medications to treat illnesses and target symptoms, while minimizing side effects and interference in daily life. Dr. Rinker also recommends vitamins and supplements to treat some conditions. She has partnered with FullScript to create an online dispensary that offers patients a safe and convenient way to purchase supplements and other natural health products.
Psychedelic-assisted Therapy (PAT), Integration, and Consultation
Ketamine is currently the only psychedelic medicine that is legal in Minnesota to treat patients outside of a research setting. Dr. Rinker offers in-office sublingual and intramuscular ketamine-assisted therapy for patients who are likely to benefit. Rather than following predetermined protocols, therapy plans (including dose, route of administration, frequency, and psychotherapeutic support) are customized for each patient. We occasionally offer psychedelic-assisted group therapy and integration groups as well.
Consultation appointments are available for individuals who are interested in learning more about PAT without becoming our patient. This service is also available for individuals who have had challenging or unhelpful experiences with psychedelics in medical settings and are wondering if they may still benefit from PAT.
When additional medicines (MDMA, psilocybin, 5-MeO-DMT) are legalized for treatment, Dr. Rinker will thoughtfully incorporate them into her clinical practice.
Targeted Muscle Stimulation and Hyperthermia
Abundant research demonstrates that muscle activation, increased muscle mass, decreased adipose tissue, and controlled hyperthermia can be effective treatments and preventive factors for psychiatric and physical symptoms by improving mood, energy, and motivation, and reducing risk factors for chronic illness. We have repurposed a non-invasive treatment that is FDA-approved for cosmetic use and are using it "off label" as a mental health and wellness treatment option. Please contact us for details.
Supportive Counseling
Supportive counseling and patient education are incorporated into every visit as they are vital components of quality care. Dr. Rinker offers traditional psychotherapy on a limited basis.
